Uhu Gareth Pugh

Mere days after spotting Mr. Pugh out and about, someone at imeem offered me a pass to Tomorrow Unlimited.
Small world, right? Yesterday I went to view the gallery and listen to Gareth Pugh and Matthew Stone discuss their artist collective beginnings as squatters in London. It made me think I need to move to London because paying no rent whatsoever seems ideal.

Yesterday was kind of the longest day of my life. It started with breakfast at the horribly overrated Spotted Pig with my brother, Ross, and our godmother in the wee hours of pre-noon and continued endlessly from there. I'll post the lot.

Kid in a Candy Store

This may seem a little late because Fashion Week here in New York ended a while ago, but I thought I would share anyhow. Every fashion week, the neighborhood I live in is bombarded with an influx of enough yupsters to make anyone a little bit annoyed. But there is a compensatory prize for all of the neighborly coping and that is getting to run into hot male models at your everyday local bodega. The most striking young chap I saw was a towering beauty in shiny bright red patent shoes and eating an absurdly large chocolate bar. He just screamed Hedi Slimane London posh boy. I didn't know until this morning, thanks to COACD, that it was Cole Mohr and that I was completely right on about Hedi's tastes. *bows*

Love for Holland

House of Holland showed off their new collection in London yesterday. By the time I reached the last few pictures, I was thinking that none of the slogans were as good as "Uhu Gareth Pugh" but when I saw this picture of Henry Holland himself, I decided that I have much love for this honest man. It might just be enough to make me shell out the pounds for an Agyness or Coco.

Hotness

This hour's procrastination-enabling activity has resulted in these two beautiful monstrosities. I give you The Misshapes as Bruno and Anna Wintour as Sienna Miller in honor of fashion week and with the help of Stardoll.

Dear Proenza Schouler,

You have made a mad woman out of me. I was so excited to walk into your pop-up store at Opening Ceremony last night and see your collection of super affordable clothes for Tar-Jay. But my excitement soon turned to despair when I discovered that your collection did not include those adorable yellow shoes in all of the sample pictures. Why must you tease me so?! I was thrown into a deeper depression when I found out the cutest little wind breaker in the world was completely out of stock. Why must the women of Manhattan buy up everything I like? The deepest cut had to be seeing all of those beautiful brown bustier dresses, filling my heart for a brief moment, only to find out they were all size 13. When I found out this dress wasn't going to be sold online either, it was almost too much to bear. I started searching for sharp objects. Where are all of these size 13 ladies that are going to buy this dress? Dearest Lazaro and Jack, if you are reading this, could you please send me a size 5? I just bought the windbreaker online but I feel a part of me is missing without that dress. Oh! And those yellow shoes.

Materialistically Yours,
Tiye

You know what this reminds me of?

Love it. Why talk about the boring and a half Academy Award nominations when there's new couture to look at? You'll never look at oragami the same after seeing Christian Dior's new Couture collection. Amazing. I really hope Judi Dench wears this at the Oscars. I kid.

Ooh, Shiny!

Many things send me into rants of fury, but really it takes so little to make me happy. What is making me happy today? My new shiny leggings I bought from American Apparel. When I first saw them I wasn't sure if I would want to enter shiny pants territory, but something inside of me knew I had to have them. And I love them so much! They're so...so...shiny! Even Jakey owns a pair.

Mantyhose

I saw this coming. Believe it or not, I have had more than one conversation with guys about leggings. There must have been some deep underground mass (hallucinatory?) male need to participate in the legging trend and it has surfaced this past week at Marni's show in Milan.

I think the trick is to wear them low on the hips, have thick calves, and not to be hung like a light switch. It works on the first guy in red, but not on the second one. The poor guy looks like Brian Boitano on his way to a cocktail party.

Hm. I was involved in ballet for many years so I've seen my fare share of men in tights and tights accessories like the not-so-glamorous dance belt. These man leggings are like a step up from that. I say, why not? I personally feel like this is something some guys would be into whenever they feel they can admit that to themselves. Meanwhile, I enjoyed FAD's contemplation of what to name them. Mantyhose is the obvious winner.

UPDATE:
Mantyhose cause harassment for The Sartorialist for no reason.

Jealous of the UK

I'm sure I could come up with a one hundred point list under this subject, but here are today's two examples of why I am jealous and a half of the Brits.

1. Christopher Kane at Topshop

2. Babyshambles at the Boogaloo

And the day is only half over! Anyone who buys me one of those dresses and/or kidnaps Peter, let me know and I'll email you my shipping address.
